Doug L. Winans, age 70 of Lansing, passed away on June 12, 2016 at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Doug was born on April 6, 1946 in Lansing, the son of Gerald Nay and Patricia Ann (Quinn) Winans. Doug was an avid camper and especially liked canoeing. He loved to travel and spend time with his grandchildren. Doug is survived by his children, Kelly (Jonathon) Watson; Dan (Sandy) Winans; eight grandchildren; and his brother, David (Valerie) Winans.A memorial service will be held on June 30, 2016 at 1:00pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave. Lansing, MI 48912. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Disabled Veterans of America 1433 Franklin St, Haslett, MI 48840. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.grlansing.com.

Doug loved his kids. He loved his grandkids. He loved his brother. He loved his friends. He loved his dogs. He loved his country. He loved his guns and he loved the Pine River. It is easy to love a man like that.
Doug was my friend for 40 years and we trusted each other. I always knew if I ever needed help, I could count on him. We shared a lot of good times, cheap beer and many laughs together. I will miss him.
