Douglas L. English, 60, of Longwood, FL, passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2017. Affectionately known as "Dougee Fresh," he was a loving and devoted husband, dog father, brother, uncle, and good friend to many. Loved by many and he was known for his frequent and famous bear hugs and had a positive word for everyone. Doug loved his sports and his Denver Broncos, Detroit Tigers, and Montreal Canadians. He adored Sandy, his wife and best friend of 18 years. Second only to Sandy was Peyton, his female black lab companion.
Doug and Sandy resided in Cincinnati and Detroit before making Central Florida their home. They settled in Longwood some 10 years ago and quickly became regulars at Kiwi's Pub and Grill in Altamonte Springs, and quietly grew into the unofficial leaders of a close-knit group of the "Kiwi Family". Doug had a flair for fine clothing and it was not unusual to see him wearing a suit in the bar. His quick wit and sense of humor and positive attitude were always contagious.
Professionally, Doug's career covered over 30 successful years in the broadcast media industry, the past 10 years with Brighthouse/Spectrum as Senior Director of Sales. He was always a true professional and was known for his integrity and leadership skills. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, respect and exuberance. Doug will be deeply missed and remembered by anyone fortunate enough to have known him, worked with him or dealt with him on a personal or professional level.
Doug was preceded in passing by his parents, Richard King and Ethel English He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; his sister, Denise (English) Lunsway and her husband Leon; nephews Landen Lunsway, Kevin Lyons, and Kyle Lyons; niece Grace Lyons; and of course his faithful companion, Peyton.
A gathering will be held in memory of "Dougee Fresh" at Baldwin Fairchild West Altamonte, 90 Weathersfield Ave., Altamonte Springs, FL 32714 on Saturday, July 22 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. In honor of Doug, guests are encouraged to wear their favorite sports jerseys. A celebration of life will follow at Kiwi's Pub & Grill in Altamonte Springs.

It was a long time ago that our paths crossed at Time Warner but I enjoyed knowing Doug and others at the Cincinnati Division office at the time. It was great to reconnect on Facebook and share comments and experiences. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news. I'm without words! Sandy, this is a long road of sadness and healing and someday you will be able to smile again as you recount the many memories you shared with your husband. My deepest sympathy. Sally (Tobias) Popa

Doug was the kindest soul and always cheerful. He will be missed greatly. No one had a negative thing to say about Doug and he would always manage to make me smile or laugh at our sales meetings. I am still stunned and saddened by his sudden departure. Sandy, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Doug was one of the best bosses I have ever had and though I had not worked directly for him for awhile now, sitting in close proximity to his office he was still very much a part of my daily life. He was a hard-working guy, always taking his job seriously and one of the more compassionate people I've ever known. I will so miss his ready smile, his college football banter with me every Fall, seeing he and sometimes Sandy in the car together as we lived close. He will be missed tremendously. He made a difference in so many people's worlds. Sandy, keeping you in my prayers...I'm just around the corner if you need me.

Doug,
I don't quite have the words to say just how wonderful of a person you were. You could always make me laugh, offered a big bear hug and a smooch on the cheek. You never failed to remind me how much the Braves suck, although really... we both know it's Detroit that is so truly terrible. You have played such a big part in my life, especially when it comes to choosing someone you thought was good enough for me, and to never trust a man in a blue suit with brown shoes... or in a Yankees hat.
You and Sandy are the epitome of how a marriage should work. I hope that Jordan & I are able to follow your example of such bliss.
I will miss you greatly, but the happy memories I have made with you will forever be fresh in my mind.
I'm happy to have known you. See you on the other side.
Love you,
Molly Mashers
