Dearest Dayna, I am so sorry to learn of Doug's passing away...I thought back to serving with him on the Austin Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities. It was a peek into his leadership skills and, more importantly, his compassion. But, foremost in my thoughts is his beaming face when you became a part of his world!!! Our God is a Great God and is always with you and your family--to comfort you during this time, and always, and I do believe Doug is with him now. You and Amy are in our thoughts and prayers.

Connie, Your beloved brother, Doug, was such an amazing person who loved you dearly. He was very proud of you as an incredible mother to your beautiful children Doug was devoted to them. There were not many like him, Doug did not hesitate to continue learning American Sign Language to eagerly be involved in your life and the children's lives as well. So did your parents. He was a warm and caring soul who will be missed dearly by all who knew him. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Dayna, my heart breaks for you and your family. While it seems I have known you forever, fact is, I knew Doug first. I met him in 1969 when hired into my first job at IRS as a WAE in personnel...at that time, he was already a successful, admired up and comer. Over the next 35 years, I had many occasions to work with him. I have a very vivid memory of him intervening and helping me in '92 or '93 with a very difficult situation I was having with the local union...in his usual calm, level-headed manner, he guided me through it and helped achieve a good outcome for all parties...was just one of many situations I witnessed over our careers where he was a mentor for many. My thoughts are with you and I hope you find some comfort in knowing his sufferinfg is over.

I remember Doug from our many years together at Travis High & in Boy Scouts/Explorer Scouts, led by his Father. An especially fond memory I have is attending U. of Texas football games as students with Gary Herzog & his future wife, Cindy. We had a lot of laughs there. Doug was always upbeat & I don't recall ever hearing him say anything mean or spiteful to or about anything. I will miss him. (3217 Birchtree Lane)
