Duane "Duke" Sorrell, 49, of Brownsville, died Friday, February 8, 2013, at Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, OH. Duane was born December 1, 1963 in Richmond, to Chester and Dorothy J. Richardson Sorrell. He was a lifetime resident and attended Union County schools. On December 20, 1991, Duane married the former Shelley Fields, in Liberty. "Duke" was employed as a truck driver at Whitewater Valley Mac Trucking for the past six years and had previously worked at TSN in Richmond and Miller Woods in Cambridge City. Duane "Duke" Sorrell, 49, of Brownsville, died Friday, February 8, 2013, at Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, OH.

Duane was born December 1, 1963 in Richmond, to Chester and Dorothy J. Richardson Sorrell. He was a lifetime resident and attended Union County schools. On December 20, 1991, Duane married the former Shelley Fields, in Liberty. "Duke" was employed as a truck driver at Whitewater Valley Mac Trucking for the past six years and had previously worked at TSN in Richmond and Miller Woods in Cambridge City. Duane enjoyed racing and was a member of the Cidra Racing Club in Liberty. In his leisure time, he liked hunting, raising cattle and visiting Eldora Raceway Park in Ohio.

Duane is survived by his wife of 22 years, his son: Cody Allen Sorrell of Brownsville; his daughter and son-in-law: Natasha Ross and Jake of Liberty; his sisters: Marilyn Bucher of Richmond ; Peggy Huntington and her husband, Duane of Centerville; two grandchildren: Brittany and Johnny Ross; nieces and nephews and their spouses: Rae Jean Grimes and Steve, Dea Messler and Tony, Beth Evans and Butch, David Crist and Debby, Stephanie Wright and Mike, Jason Sorrell and Kristen, Shannon Brown and Andy; brother-in-law: Arthur Field Jr.; sisters-in-law: Jackie Sorrell, Lisa Paxton and her fiancé, Buddy, Kaye Lakes and her husband, Freddie; several cousins and many friends.

Duane is preceded in death by his father, his mother: Dorothy J. Sorrell Henry; his daughter: Shelby Nichole Sorrell; brothers: Keith and Larry Sorrell; and his brother-in-law: John Bucher.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. Interment will follow in West Point Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Foundation or to the Area 9 Meal Program.
