Dustin Joseph Eskie of Leawood, KS, after a short journey on Earth passed on Sunday, August 25, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and friends after a 9 month courageous battle with pineal glioblastoma brain tumor. His great strength and determination was an inspiration to his family and friends. He came into this world on March 16, 1992, in Overland Park, KS, one day before his dad's birthday. He grew up in Leawood, attended The Barstow School, and was in his 3rd year at Arizona State University. His bright spirit and loving personality touched many during his short life. Dustin was a creative writer, humorous, intuitive, and witty. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, playing guitar, and video games. Dustin definitely danced to the beat of his own drum. In a conversation with his parents at age 4, he was asked "Where are you from?" and he responded "From God." And now we give him back to God as a special angel to watch over his family and friends. Mom and Dad were blessed and proud to have Dustin as our son. He will always be in our hearts.
Dustin will be buried at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in a peaceful, wooded setting. A celebration of life service honoring Dustin will be held at Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, KS, at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 31, 2013. Feel free to bring anything you would like to share or say about Dustin's life to a reception in the narthex immediately following the service by Pastor Adam Hamilton. Dress casual.
Dustin's wishes were to have more research into this rare form of brain cancer. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to KU Endowment Association, Neuroscience Research, in memory of Dustin J. Eskie, P.O. Box 928, Lawrence, KS, 66044-0928.
We will miss our son's dry sense of humor, his challenging questions about everything in life, and his warm and honest heart. He leaves behind his parents, Dennis and Debra (Debi) Eskie, sisters Leah Eskie-Percival and Erin (Fred C.) Merrill, nieces Chyler and Chandi Percival and Evie Merrill, nephew Brayden Merrill, grandfathers Harlan "Nick" Reynolds, Jr. and Stephen Parker, great-grandmother, Katherine Zavitz-Reynolds-Dawson, aunt Linda and uncle Mike Boyd, aunt Darla Urbantas (Richard), uncle Dirk Reynolds (Laura), cousins Andy, Katie, and David Boyd, and Levi Reynolds, special lifetime friend Veronica Martinez, and his close friends. Keep a candle lit as we will all meet up to you later Dustin. Waiting for him in heaven are his grandmothers, Helen Irene Schwedes-Eskie-Glascock and Peggy Abbott-Reynolds-Parker and great-grandmothers, Alice Abbott and Jessie Schwedes.
A heartfelt thank you from Debi, Dennis, Leah and Erin to our friends and family and to Dustin's friends for their loving support, kindness, and prayers for Dustin during his 9-month illness.

Only a change of worlds" Chief Seattle

"Dennis, Debi, Erin and Leah, I am your neice/cousin Eleanor. A family member forwarded this sad news. I feel so sorry for your loss, and know what it is..." Eleanor Luna
