Elijah “E.C.” Renshaw of Terrell, Texas, passed away Friday morning, May 19, 2017, at the age of 89.
E.C. was born to the late Joe and Kelso Renshaw on June 13, 1927 in Quinlan, Texas. He was the youngest of their three sons. After graduating from Quinlan High School, he briefly attended North Texas Agricultural College (now U.T. Arlington), before enlisting in the Army. He graduated from East Texas State Teacher’s College in Commerce and subsequently earned his master’s degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. He later served in the Air National Guard.
E.C. married Marie Cheshire, of Joaquin, Texas on July 4, 1950, in Quinlan, Texas. During his career he worked for various defense contractors and architectural product firms. He and Marie moved their young family to Terrell in 1967. They are members of First United Methodist Church in Terrell. E.C. was a Master Mason in good standing for the Trestle Board Masonic Lodge #534 in Quinlan, Texas, and had been a mason for 68 years.
E.C. was the “strong, silent” sort of man, soft spoken, but with a wry sense of humor. He was hard working and dependable, and his family always came first. He retired twice, the last time at the age of 84! He loved fishing, spending time at the family ranch and playing with his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Joe Renshaw and Henry Renshaw. He is survived by his wife Marie; his son David Renshaw and his wife Kristi Renshaw of Greenville, Texas, and their children Justin, Luke and DeeDee; his daughter Tamara Vincent and her husband Lance Vincent of Tyler, Texas, and their son Joshua Vincent and his wife Lauren, and their daughter Haley Vincent, all of Austin, Texas; as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home, 301 W. Nash Street, Terrell, Texas. Funeral Services will be 11:00am Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Chuck Aaron officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in E.C.’s memory can be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas (www.tsrhc.org).

I began working with E.C in 1982 right at the time that Vistawall was formed. He was by far and away the best customer service rep that I have ever dealt with. He and I had a very friendly business relationship for many years and I often think of him even now and use him and his personality as a fine example.

EC was a coworker at VistaWall for a couple of years. I learned a lot from him during that brief time. Thank you for sharing the pictures. We see our coworkers from 8-5, but we do not know much about their families. The pictures truly exhibit a man that loved his family. Please accept my condolences and may God be with you as you celebrate the life of a Man of God.

EC was a great man. He was our customer service rep with Vistawall, I always enjoyed talking to him on the phone and he always had a good story to tell as well. I also had the privilege to meet and have lunch with him twice. He was full of wisdom and will never be forgotten, my prayers are with this family during this time.

Farewell Uncle E, may you ever have fair winds and green pastures. A true measure of a man is now how many love him but how many he loves, few men have a heart large enough to embrace everyone they touch, I never had a doubt you were such a man.
