On August 29, 1918, Everett Dale was born to Raymond Emanuel Click and Maude Viola Botkin Click. He was born on a farm near Enon (outside Springfield), OHIO. He was raised in the Springfield area. He had one sister, Pauline.

Graduate of Wittenberg University and Hamma Divinity School, both of Springfield OH.

Ordained -- United Lutheran Church in America -- 05/24/44.

After a 5-year engagement, Dale married Martha Jane ("Bunny") Gray on 06/11/44. They were blessed with over 52 years of marriage and with two sons, Barry Edward and Dean Raymond.

As a dedicated pastor, he served St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in San Mateo CA (1944-53), was Associate Director of Evangelism for the national church in New York City (1953-58), served First Lutheran Church, Los Angeles CA (1958-69), Luther Memorial Church, Erie PA (1969-72), Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fresno CA (1974-78), and First Lutheran Church, Dayton OH (1978-83). Rev. E. Dale Click "retired" in 1983, but that only lasted about a year before he began to serve various churches as a supply pastor and interim minister, mostly in the San Fernando Valley of California. Pastor C also served on the pastoral staff at Ascension Lutheran Church, Thousand Oaks CA from 1991-1995. For many years he served Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, Chatsworth CA. For three decades he was a chaplain on cruise ships (Princess, Holland).

His community service was highlighted by being an active member of Rotary Club 5 of L.A. His brief and poignant prayers at Rotary were a source of blessing and inspiration.

Dale was an avid golfer for over 70 years.

Rev. Click was a prolific author and published 15 books and was well known in Lutheran circles as the Architect of a Churchwide Evangelism Emphasis from 1955-57.

His seminary -- Hamma Divinity School -- became part of Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, OH -- and Rev. Click recently (09/29/2011) was in Columbus to receive the DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS AWARD, and he was rightfully proud of that.

The Reverend E. Dale Click was a man of God who influenced thousands of people with his commitment to Christ and the Church. And he was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

He passed away in Thousand Oaks CA at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bunny, who passed away in 1996. He is survived by sons Barry (Bonnie Sue) and Dean (Susan); grandsons Bryan Andrew Click, Stephen Todd Click, and Joshua Emanuel Click; granddaughter Jessika Eva Jenkins; step granddaughters Cheyenne Koger, Marnee Schnyder and Amy Klehm; Nephew The Rev. Larry W. Matthews (Nancy); grandniece Sheryl Crowell (David) their sons Jacob and Alex as well as numerous cousins, especially Rosemary Belt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Seminary 2199 East Main St, Columbus OH 43209, for the purpose of establishing a Chair on Evangelism.

His cremains will be buried alongside his loving wife at Enon Cemetery, Enon OH, at a graveside service on Saturday, March 16, at 10:00AM. A Memorial Service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, Thousand Oaks CA, on Sunday, April 14 at 4:00PM.
