EILEEN BACON Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 1, 2010.

Eileen was born in the county of Knox, NY to Joseph W. and Clarabel Sharp on August 24, 1928. She passed away September 29, 2010 in Grass Valley, CA. Her family resided in Cohoes, NY where she attended school and grew up. During WWII she was employed at the Watervliet Arsenal until the war ended. Eileen and her sons moved from N.Y. State to the Sacramento area where they resided for over 40 years. She read the Bible and the Scriptures faithfully, never missing a day, carrying a Bible wherever she went. Although a car accident left her with serious injuries, causing lifelong disabilities, she loved her family and enjoyed having friends over. The first words you heard when she opened the door were, "Come on in, sit down...what can I get you to eat?" You were always welcomed at Eileen's huse. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Rita; her brother Joseph; her two sons Joseph J. Sullivan and Ricardo Bacon and her first husband James Sullivan and second husband Raymond Bacon. Eileen will be missed by her grandchildren Raymond Bacon, Ricky (RJ) Bacon, Shirley Bacon, Viola and her husband Doug Brown and their children Dylan and Viviyan; and Eileen's brother's family Joan M. Sharp and her daughters Deborah, Linda, Marian, Jo-Anne and Nancy. Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Mass Saturday, October 9th at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by interment at Sylvan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Eileen's name to the Diabetes Assoc. Arrangements under the direction of Reichert's Funeral Service Directors 916-729-2229

Grandma Eileen was a very special person to me. She not only was my grandmother but also like a mother to me. I just know that the last 5 years were precious and special moments with her. I didn't know that she was dying......She might not even known she was dying. Why? She was a strong women; you never knew if there was something wrong or if she was hurting. She always had that smile on her face and it always made you smile too. Grandma, I never got to tell you how much you really meant me......Grandma, you were caring, giving of yourself, loving and inspiring. You always read your bible and you loved the Lord with all your heart. If there was something you tought me..... is to love the Lord with all your heart and through everything God is always there. Grandma, I love you so much and I will miss you so much but I know that you made heaven your home.

Grandma Eileen will be missed so much. Having had her as a grandmother for the last 5 years after being married to Viola she excepted me into the family without hesitaion. She was the example of a virtous woman. A great example to my wife, her grandaughter, and our children. I can still see her face as our 2 year old son would walk into the room and she would light up and play with him and cry when he would give her a bear hug. She always read her bible at night even to the day she passed. What an amazing woman. Grandma Eileen you will be missed, but you are resting in everlasting love and peace. She fought the good fight and endured until the end. We love you.

I loved knowing Eileen and the boys. I met Eileen when I was a big brother to Ricky. I will always remember the great stories she told me about her life. We spent many hours talking and laughing together. For many years she told me she couldn't wait to be with the Lord, and now her wish is here. May she be in the arms of her Lord whom she waited so long for.
