Earl Gene Blankenship was called home by the Heavenly Father to be with his loving wife, Donna Jean Cook Blankenship, Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the age of 76, following a short illness.
Born March 1, 1939, he was the son of the late Joseph Lee Blankenship and Inez Vada Brown Blankenship.
Gene was a retired coal miner from Eastern Associated Coal Company. He enjoyed going to his camper in Greenbrier County to hunt and fish and doing his crossword puzzles. He loved the holidays and spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Priss.
In addition to his parents, other family members awaiting his arrival in Heaven are his brother, Stacy Lee Blankenship, a son-in-law, Randell Ray Irick, three brothers-in-law, Bobby Brown, Sr., Franklin Daniels and Benny Joe Cook. Two nephews, Freddie Daniels and Bobby (Louie) Brown and a niece, Louise Ann Daniels also await his arrival.
Those left to cherish Gene’s memory are his three daughters, Stephanie Blankenship and fiancé, Brian Vance of Cyclone, Michele Blankenship Lusk and husband, Fabian of Kopperston and Tamberly Blankenship Irick and Lonnie Stewart of Glen Fork; three grandchildren, Taylor Lusk and Kim Vance of Kopperston, Raelyn Blankenship Irick and A.J. Jones of Hurricane and Tyler Blankenship Irick and Courtnee Counts of Glen Fork; three sisters, Janice Daniels of Matheny, Mavis Brown of Cyclone and Geraldine Perry and husband, Michael of Cyclone; one uncle, Calvin Blankenship, Jr. and Betty of Clintonville; one aunt, Gladys Blankenship Brown of Cyclone; one brother-in-law, Gary Cook of Kernersville, NC; one sister-in-law, Brenda Cook of Lafayette, OH; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Casket bearers will be: Michael Perry, Ricky Brown, Eric Brown, Darren Blankenship, Pete Davis, Luke Gallaher, Tyler Irick, AJ Jones, Kevin Daniels and Jeff Hood.

Have known Gene since 1977 when I was going to nursing school with his sweet wife Donna. Both were just wonderful people who loved their daughters and each other without limits. He will be missed. My heart goes out to his daughters and all of his family. Rest in sweet peace Gene.
