Addendum: I meant no disrespect in referring to Earl as "Duffy." My work in Hines VA Hospital often led to my referring to my patients by last names, first names and their referring to me as Ma'am or Mrs DeSmet. I should have called your husband Earl or Mr Duffy. Forgive me do.

Sharon, my sympathy to you and all your family. Life does always end for all of us, so celebrate your lives every precious day. It sounds as if Duffy lived his life to the fullest and lived to make others happy and to above all love his family. Capture the sweet memories and hold them in your heart. Tears of loss we cannot evade but as time goes on, we find ourselves smiling at how he talked to the dog, loved his children and grandchildren, how he felt about his truck, and, above all, how your first meeting and falling happened and how sweet a love you had- no, still have. Life on this earth may end, but LIFE goes on perhaps elsewhere and certainly you and all your and his family will keep him and his love alive in your hearts. Life IS to be CELEBRATED. With you, allow me to celebrate his!
Phoebe (Julie) Sickal-DeSmet in the love of our triune God.

Sharon, I was saddened to hear of your husband's passing. Since we live on the west end of CL also we would see him driving around in his truck quite often when he had his business. May you feel the Lord's presence in your sorrow.
