Earl Franklin Lorence Sr., 81 years old, of New City, NY entered Gods Kingdom peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on May 21, 2012. Earl was born in Buffalo, NY in 1931 to Alvin and Ella Lorence. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict and graduated from the Erie County (NY) Technical Institute, as well as the Erie County (NY) Police Academy in 1956. Earl served at the Erie County (NY) Sheriff's Department as Detective Sergeant through 1964. He was also an instructor for the Erie County Police Academy. Earl Franklin Lorence Sr., 81 years old, of New City, NY entered Gods Kingdom peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on May 21, 2012. Earl was born in Buffalo, NY in 1931 to Alvin and Ella Lorence. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict and graduated from the Erie County (NY) Technical Institute, as well as the Erie County (NY) Police Academy in 1956. Earl served at the Erie County (NY) Sheriff's Department as Detective Sergeant through 1964. He was also an instructor for the Erie County Police Academy. He was the past president for the New York State Polygraph Examiners Association. Earl moved to Rockland County in 1964 where he began as Director of Security for a private New York City corporation. Along with his wife, Carole, they founded Inter County Alarm Systems in 1969. They also founded Inter County Testing Services in 2003.He was a proud member of the Rockland County Police Chiefs Association, Rockland Business Association, Rockland County Police Steuben Association, Emerald Investment Club American Legion Post 1682, New City, New York, and National Burglar and Fire Alarm Associations, Society for Fire Protection Engineers. Earl is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carole. His devoted children: Karen (Edward) of Saugerties, NY, Beth ( John) of New City, Mark (Amanda) of Gig Harbor, WA, Scott (Jeanette) of Congers, NY and Earl (Donna) of New City, NY; seven grandchildren: Edward Kovac, Nicholas Kovac, Cassandra (James) Kennedy, Jack Lorence, Emily and Steven Lorence, and Kate Lorence. Brother and sister-in-law Gary and Mary Wagner of Fairport, NY and dear nieces and nephews of Buffalo, NY. He will be greatly missed by all of his lunchtime friends who were especially close to him along with is older friends Murray Williams and Mike Alexander. Earl was predeceased by his dear sister Phyllis Ruchser of Buffalo, NY. Earl was extremely focused on the needs of his loving family, who were a great source of pride to him. As a husband and father, Earl's unwavering love and devotion was his guiding light to all who knew him. Within the business community, Earl's professionalism was held in the highest regard. Earl was not shy and was always quick to compliment friends and acquaintances. Family will receive friends today, May 23rd and Thursday May 24th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Funeral Services will be held at Grace Baptist Church, Nanuet, NY on Friday at 11am. Cremation services will be private. Donations in Earl's Memory may be made to Rockland County Meals on Wheels program and United Hospice of Rockland.
