Earl Lee Loupa, 88, of Rock Island, passed away in Rock Island on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, after a brief illness. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Earl was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Rock Island, the son of Roy and Margaret Zismer Loupa. Earl was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Rock Island, the son of Roy and Margaret Zismer Loupa. He enlisted as a teen in the Merchant Marines during World War II and later served in the U.S. Navy, being honorably discharged in 1948. He married Dorothy Luckey on Nov. 25, 1948. Mr. Loupa was employed as a car salesman, working for Lundahl Motors in Rock Island among other dealerships. He then went on to work as a factory representative in sales for the Anchorlok company, and later worked as a salesman at Beacon Bay Boats, Rock Island. In his free time, Earl loved fishing, playing cards, boating and traveling, and being with his family was at the top of his list. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dorothy, Rock Island; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Chuck Mulkey, Taylor Ridge; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grandkids.
