Major Earl G. Putnam (Retired) 82 years of age. Passed June 9th, 2014 in Orange City, Florida. Preceded in death by his father, Dave Oliver Putnam and mother, Theryn Macbee Putnam both of Eastland Texas. Survived by his wife of 62 years; Nell Frances Utley Putnam; three sons, Randall Putnam of Richmond, Virginia, Brad Putnam of Nashville, Tennessee and Shaun Putnam of Debary, Florida; one sister, Davita Havranek of Waco, Texas. He was born on June 28th, 1931 in Carbon, Texas. Major Putnam left home to join the U.S. Army in 1949. Preceded in death by his father, Dave Oliver Putnam and mother, Theryn Macbee Putnam both of Eastland Texas.



Survived by his wife of 62 years; Nell Frances Utley Putnam; three sons, Randall Putnam of Richmond, Virginia, Brad Putnam of Nashville, Tennessee and Shaun Putnam of Debary, Florida; one sister, Davita Havranek of Waco, Texas.



He was born on June 28th, 1931 in Carbon, Texas. Major Putnam left home to join the U.S. Army in 1949. With over twenty years of service, he served with honor in Korea from 1950-1951 where he earned the Purple heart and Bronze Stars with Oak Leaf Cluster with Valor. He also served in Vietnam in 1965 where he was almost fatally wounded and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Stars with Oak Leaf Cluster with Valor and a Silver Star along with the distinguished Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palms. He also received over his illustrious Army career the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge (2d Award), National Defense Service Medal (2d Award), Vietnam Service Medal with One Campaign Star, Master Parachutist Badge, Parachutist Badge, Glider Badge, Army Commendation Medal and Legion of Merit.



Visitation will be held from two until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 13th of June, 2014 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A funeral service with military honors will be held at eleven thirty in the morning on Saturday, the 14th of June, in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with visitation held from nine until the service time. Entombment to take place in Woodlawn’s Cross Mausoleum following the service.
