Mr. Earl W. Sherrill, Jr., 82, of 229 N. Greenbriar Road, died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Alexander County of June 18, 1930, he was the son of the late Earl W. Sherrill, Sr. and Rener M. Sherrill. He served three years (1951-1954) in the Army and while stationed in Germany, he met and married Inge P. Sherrill on May 8, 1954. In September 1954 they came back to the states where they made their home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Randy N. Jones of Statesville. He is survived by his wife Inge P. Sherrill of the home, two daughters, Pat S. Pendleton and Susan S. Winebarger and husband J.R. of Statesville, one son, David E. Sherrill and wife Louann of Cleveland, two brothers, J.C. Sherrill and wife Eunice of Newton, Ray Sherrill (Crystal), two sisters, Gladys Riddle and husband Milton, and Polly Wooten and husband Thomas, all of Statesville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services celebrating his life are scheduled for Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. B.N. Black and Rev. Kenneth Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
