Earlane Steward was born on the 12th of September in Mt. Pleasant TX to Estella Ruffin and Morris Shaw. At the age of X, Earlane relocated to Dallas, TX with her family where she graduated from South Oak Cliff high school in 1973. At the age of 10, “Lannie” and her family moved to Dallas. At the age of 22, she met a charismatic young man by the name of Eugene Steward at a Braums on Ledbetter. They soon fell in love and married, and would spend 40 long years together. Earlane became a part of the Blue Cross Blue Shield family and worked there for over 35 years, but she would say her real job began the day they welcomed their baby girl, Arleshia, into their lives. Arleshia was Earlane’s pride and joy and she loved nothing more than spending time with family's family her grandpuppy. Lannie was a woman of faith. She prided herself in her love of God. Proverbs 31 describes the characteristics of a virtuous woman, and a virtuous woman was Earlane. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her, will testify to how much of a blessing to us she truly was. Earlane passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by people who love her. She will be remembered by all for her loving spirit, her benevolence and her devotion to her family. She was undeniably an angel on earth. Earlane is preceded in death by her mother, Estella Ruffin, and father, Morris Shaw; brothers James Calvin Ruffin, Esque Ruffin, and Jesse James Ruffin; sister Arlethia Ruffin all of Dallas, TX. To cherish her memory she leaves: her husband, Eugene Steward, Desoto Texas; her daughter, Arleshia Okoli (husband Ian); brothers Bill Ruffin, Lavan Ruffin, Rayford Ruffin, and Melvin Ruffin; sisters, Lenoria Irving (husband Will), and Madie Brown (husband Leon), in-laws, one aunt, Winnie Kate Spencer, a host of uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

My prayers are with the Steward family. Earlane was one of the sweetest, dependable, and most uplifting ladies I have ever known. Nothing could keep her spirits down, at least not for long. She'd just keep on plugging through it all. I've missed her since she decided to retire from HP. Through our time in Tech Services at TBHE to our times at HP, Earlane was always there to help out anyone who asked. What a lovely lady she was. She will be sorely missed.

My condolences to the Steward family. Words are never quite adequate for moments like this. I had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Earlane at Trailblazer. She was always graceful and kindhearted; with that unforgettable stride. Praying God provide comfort and strength for her family.

My prayers are with the Steward family. Earlane was a caring person with a sweet spirit. I know her family and friends will miss her, but she is with the angels now. I worked with Earlane at Blue Cross Blue Shield and we would go to break together every day. She would talk about her daughter Arleshia and Gene, her husband. They were her life. She always had a smile on her face and she always had a word of encouragement. She was never negative. I had not seen Earlane in a while, but I would think about her often. I will always remember her by the way she talked and the way she walked. Stay strong family and lean on God to keep you strong. God bless this family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Steward family. She was very much a blessing, and always made my day when I saw her at the clinic. One of my favorite patients. She will never be forgotten. Only knowing her such a short time, but the love I have for her will never fade away.
