Mr. Earnest Edward Kirkpatrick, Sr. was born June 10, 1930 in Stone Mountain GA, and passed away at his home in Shreveport LA on April 6, 2012. Edward was saved and knew the Lord. Edward retired in 1992 from the Atlanta Journal Constitution after 45 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and watching Nascar Racing. He was married to Goldie Melton on June 18, 1948. They were married for 55 years. After her death, Edward moved to Shreveport, LA to be with family there. Edward had one of the kindest spirits of anyone I have ever encountered. He touched the lives of all the people that were in his life, and this was displayed in a phrase he used regularly; "Glad to know ya." It was evident that he meant every word of it. From the woman who cut his hair to the workers at the dry cleaning establishment, all people saw his joy through the sparkle in his eyes. He is survived by one son, Earnest Edward Kirkpatrick, Jr. (Butch) and daughter-in-law Lois; one granddaughter, Denise Byley and her husband Joe; two great-granddaughters, Lindsey Willis and her husband Michael, and Emily Byley; and one great-great grandson on the way. Edward is also survived by one brother Thomas Kirkpatrick and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

I am sorry to learn of your family sorrow. The death of a loved one is painful. If I may, I'd like to share scripture found in your Bible that may comfort you in some way. Please take a moment to read John 6:40, 44, Ps. 36:9, 37:29.
