Obituary

Mr. Edwin Ernest Trimble of Charlotte, NC died Saturday Dec. 22nd at his residence. He was born Nov. 25th, 1931 in Chattanooga Tenn. He grew up in Chattanooga, Knoxville and Signal Mtn. Tenn. He received a Business Degree from Berea College, Berea Kentucky where he helped start the school's first golf team. It was there that he met and married his love of 59 years Mary McDougal Trimble. After serving in the US Army stationed in Alaska, Ed and Mary moved to Chattanooga, TN, where he worked for Central Soya. Mr. Edwin Ernest Trimble of Charlotte, NC died Saturday Dec. 22nd at his residence. He was born Nov. 25th, 1931 in Chattanooga Tenn. He grew up in Chattanooga, Knoxville and Signal Mtn. Tenn. He received a Business Degree from Berea College, Berea Kentucky where he helped start the school's first golf team. It was there that he met and married his love of 59 years Mary McDougal Trimble.

After serving in the US Army stationed in Alaska, Ed and Mary moved to Chattanooga, TN, where he worked for Central Soya. In 1967 they settled in Charlotte, NC where he worked for Harris Crane until he retired.

Ed was a great man, loving husband, and wonderful father and grandfather. He was a friend to all that met him. His quiet unassuming presence was a comfort to many and his counsel was sought out by all ages. His kind and generous spirit was evident by his endless hours sitting will ill friends.

Ed was a great baseball player in college and in the Army, but his passion was golf. He was a member of Carmel Country Club where he won 4 Club Championships as well as 9 Senior Championships. His goal throughout the years was to always be able to shoot his age - he accomplished that goal. Ed was also proudly in attendance at his children's and grandchildren's events from cheerleading to music to sports and was an original Panther PSL owner.

He is survived by his daughter Connie DeBerry and son-in-law Buddy DeBerry, daughter Kim Hall, grandchildren Breck Stack and Kasey Stack and brother Rick Trimble and Sister-in-law Lynda Trimble.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary; his mother Elizabeth Trimble; Father, Jack Trimble; 3 Brothers, Jack, Bill, Robert and 2 sisters Myra and Wanda.

The family will received friends Thursday December 27th from 6pm - 8pm at McEwen Funeral Services, Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am., Friday, Dec. 28th at Sharon Memorial Cemetery, Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC.
