Eddylou Brown was born on Feb. 14, 1927 in Whittier, CA. She moved to San Luis Obispo County in 1969. She was married to Raymond G. Brown for 51 years. They had 3 sons: Allan, Gary, and Brian. She is survived by her youngest, Brian, his wife, Michelle, their 3 daughters, Stephanie Hutchinson, Melinda Hart, and Addy Brown. Eddylou is also survived by another granddaughter, Allison Brown, and her great-grandchildren, Marshall, Miller, and Emery Hutchinson.
Eddylou's early pursuits included working as a Rosie the Riveter in WWII, a courtroom stenographer, and an executive secretary. She was a loving mother, not only to her own sons, but also to 2 foster children. Eddylou and Raymond introduced merlot grapes into this county in 1971 along with establishing a zinfandel vineyard which is now Castoro Cellars on Hw 46 W. She was one of the first Suicide Hotline operators in San Luis Obispo county. She volunteered extensively serving as president of the Boys and Girls Club, the Optimist Club, and Amigos de Los Ninos. She was instrumental in the founding of the Templeton Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Eddylou was very creative and artistically talented making beautiful porcelain dolls. She had a love for traveling and was able to see most of the world. After the death of Raymond in 1995, she married Mel Brown. They lived together happily for 15 years. In lieu of flowers, please don't vote for Hillary.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, 11/21, 10:30 am, at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park in Los Osos. Arrangements are under the direction of Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home.
