Our loving mother, grandmother, wife, and friend Edith J. Rought Hargroves Chester, 92 of Savannah, GA, passed away July 4, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving husband A.J. Chester, daughter Angela Ortiz, grandchildren Briana and Barrett Ortiz, and granddaughter Fran Grayson Fisher. She retired from Georgia Regional Food Service in 1987. She is preceded in death by her former spouse and children's father Raymond H. Hargroves, her three infant sons, her parents Rev. Charles B. Rought and Lillian Jenkins Rought, her son Ronald Hargroves and his son, her grandson, Zach Hargroves, her sister Pauline Boatright (Zeke), brothers Billy...
Our loving mother, grandmother, wife, and friend Edith J. Rought Hargroves Chester, 92 of Savannah, GA, passed away July 4, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving husband A.J. Chester, daughter Angela Ortiz, grandchildren Briana and Barrett Ortiz, and granddaughter Fran Grayson Fisher.

She retired from Georgia Regional Food Service in 1987. She is preceded in death by her former spouse and children's father Raymond H. Hargroves, her three infant sons, her parents Rev. Charles B. Rought and Lillian Jenkins Rought, her son Ronald Hargroves and his son, her grandson, Zach Hargroves, her sister Pauline Boatright (Zeke), brothers Billy and John Rought, and son in law Billy Grayson.

She is survived by her most loving and dedicated husband of 30 years Andrew J. Chester. Our loving mother is also survived by four daughters and two sons: Margie Grayson and children Karen, Fran, and Trey, Angela Ortiz and children Briana and Barrett, Linda Williams (Jimmy) and daughter Julie, Nancy Pynes (Mike) and children Donnie, Ray, Michael and Sam, Michael Horace Hargroves (Sue) and children Scott and Adam, Joseph Hargroves (Penny) and children Brittnay and Christina, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, and her sister, Naomi Branson and children Wade, Coleen, Ronnie and Danny and her brother, Bobby Rought and children Betty and Robert.

Our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Bodziner and his staff, Hospice Savannah, The Alzheimer's Association, and a special thank you to Denise Collins and Keisha Washington for the care, love and support of our mother.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Thursday in the Chapel of Fairhaven with interment to follow in Greenwich Cemetery.
