An Ode to my mother Edna
Parked in a Studebaker
outside Doc Asbury's house
I was told to be quiet
and still as a mouse
The lighter just begged me
to give it a try
push it in, make it glow
now that's a happy guy
when all of a sudden
the lighter got hot
it dropped to the floor
and you'll never guess what
yep, smoke started coming
from the carpet on the floor
I didn't know what to do
so I opened the door
lucky for me
there was my mom
she put out the fire
and stayed ever so calm.
don't know what doc Asbury gave her
but that wasn't like my mom
I love you mom, Richie
