Edward H. "Ed" Waite, 89, of Davenport passed away at home on Sunday, May 7, 2017. Following cremation, a private committal service will be held. The family requests no flowers or memorial contributions. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Ed was born October 9, 1927 in Manchester, New Hampshire, the son of Perley Waite and Grace (Hill) Waite Jacomet. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1945 to 1949 in a Pacific deployment. He was employed by Oscar Mayer starting in 1962. He married Betty Soteres July 23, 1966 in Davenport.
In 1972 Ed started working for the UFCW Local 431 as a union representative in charge of Oscar Mayer operations. He served as president of the Quad City Federation of Labor and Chairman of Q.C. Labor Alliance from 1978 to 1980. In 1990, he served on the first Riverboat Development Authority Board. He was instrumental in bringing the first riverboat casino to Davenport. From 1990 to 1992 he was appointed to serve on the Davenport City Council as Second Ward Alderman.
He was an avid YMCA member for 68 years, attending almost daily. His hobbies include: fishing, coffee with friends, reading, time spent with family by the pool, socializing and retirement.
Survivors include five children: Bruce, Bradley, Brenda, Beth and Becky, all of California; stepson, Michael McIntyre; nephew Gary, several grandchildren and great grandchild. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a sister, two stepsons, a stepdaughter, two daughters-in-law and a grandchild.

Uncle Pinky was awesome and sweet. Only memories of when I was younger. His sister my moon died in 1972. I do remember my cousins though like it was yesterday love you all may he RIP
