Edward Homko Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 31, 2015.

Ed Homko, 53, of Addison, TX died March 28, 2015. He was born on September 25, 1962 in Arlington, TX to Olga Casini and Paul Homko. Ed was educated at Sam Houston High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1987.

After working for Cadbury as their Manager in Applications, Ed could no longer suspend his dream of owning a multi-faceted facility dedicated to the care and well-being of dogs. He purchased Petite Pooch Chateau in Farmers Branch in 2010, with Petite Pooch Chateau of Addison soon following.

Ed was more than just the face of Petite Pooch; he was known by his friends and loved-ones as a man who was glad to help others whenever he could and treated those around him with dignity and respect, regardless of their past or station life. He also was very active in the city of Addison, serving on the Board of Addison Circle and a contributing board member of the Adventura Home Owner’s Association.

Ed loved to travel and had the privilege of visiting destinations including the UK, Australia and Maui, Hawaii. While vacationing in Maui, his favorite thing to do was to go snorkeling. His dream was to one day retire there.

On October 19, 2013, Ed married his longtime partner John Wise in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 pm on April 15, 2015 at Metrocrest Funeral Home.

Ed was a wonderful person, who I had the honor to work with in the Addison Circle Neighborhood Association. My dogs had gone to Petite Pooch for many years, and when Ed purchased the business I was thrilled! Petite Pooch continues to be the only place I want my animals to stay. Ed always cared for his staff but truly loved the animals that came there to stay.

Our thoughts and prayers are with John and all the Petite Pooch family. Ed leaves an admirable legacy behind in deciding to do what he loved and help others (dogs and their owners) at the same time!

No words to express the shock of learning about Ed's passing. Ed's parents were my late husband and my friends, and Ed was named for my husband, Edward Valaitis. We were his Godparents, and spent many happy times with him as a young boy. I was able to reconnect with Ed the last few years, when he would check on me. Ed was a very caring man, he will be missed.

Ed was such a great guy, sorry to hear of his passing. We met at DECUS in the early 90s, when we both had hair and enjoyed may conferences and later ski trips. I'll remember those real Texas stories that he always had. John, sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ed when I decided to check out Petit Pouch in Addison as a place to bring my pups to. He is one of the reasons that I decided to give them a try. Glad I met him. Prayers for his family

May the road rise up to meet you, Ed, and the wind be at your back...I loved seeing you at Petite Pooch when I would bring Joey in...your gentleness and calmness are a gift in my life - and what you started at Petite Pooch is a family that has grown to love each other and their little charges...Be at peace with your God...He holds you in the palm of his hand...Thank you for being in my life and Joey's life...

You were a bright spot in an often dark world, Ed. I'm so glad we were able to reconnect and stay in touch all these years after high school - even if only online. I valued your friendship and appreciated your work with animals more than you could know. Sending love to John, your sweet furkids, and all those who loved you via this message. Thank you for being such a beautiful example for so many. Semper Fi, friend!
