Edward Abrams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 20, 2013.

Edward B. Abrams, 62 of Roswell, passed away on September 19thfollowing a year-long battle with cancer. Born in Salem, Massachusetts on February 16th and raised in nearby Beverly by his father Manuel and mother Helen Abrams.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Cheryl; his brother Robert and wife Joann Abrams of Essex, Massachusetts; daughter Casey and her husband Bryan Villarreal of Cartersville, Georgia; and two sons Geoffrey and Andrew Abrams of Roswell, Georgia. His two granddaughters, Noelee Kate and Hattie Ann Villarreal, too young to remember him, will nevertheless come to know their extraordinary grandfather through stories shared by his family and those fortunate enough to have known him.

Ed found success in all aspects in life. He rose to the role of Group President of Lincoln Educational Services in 2008 following nearly 30 years of service in the education sector while playing an active role in the lives of each one of his family members. Additionally, he was an avid runner who competed in numerous marathons including the Boston Marathon as recently as April, 2012 without the knowledge that the cancer to which he would ultimately succumb was in its infancy.

The impact of his life is felt by many and will continue to be felt as the fond memories of Ed are spread by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 23rdat 2:00p.m. at the Roswell Funeral Home at 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia. The family is accepting flowers or donations to a charity of choice in remembrance of Ed.

I knew Eddie when I worked/studied at Newbury Jr. College giving out books with him for (CEC). He gave me rides back to Beverly where I grew up. He was such a nice guy. It is sad to know this well-respected man is no longer making people smile. You were the best, Eddie!

Ed was my mentor, at times family & always a friend. My heart hurts so much Cheryl for you & the kids( they were too young to remember me). I am struggling with the loss of a man that I thought was invincible. I don't understand how to believe in good when we lose a man like Ed. I miss you my friend.

To the Abrams family...Ed was a man who spoke his mind with great conviction and courage. He would give you a "jab" with a smile on his face and you knew he liked you. I heard from others that he had respect for me as I did for him. I can't help but think he's asking someone right now if the student is "packaged" and ready to start school.

God Bless you in this time of sorry. You are in my prayers daily.

The "Business" misses you Ed!

I am so very sorry to hear of Ed's passing. I remember fondly the early years, before kids. Restaurant gatherings with a table for 18. Road trips, Mummer day parades. Kookoo coffee,.. Ed and Paul on the catamaran while Cheryl and I waited on the beach both with full bellies awaiting the birth of our first babes. His smile lit up a room. He epitomized the saying "do what you love and love what you do" whether it be family, friends or his job. But it was always his family that held the core of his heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in Peace my old friend. xo

Ed was a true inspiration as an educator, avid and accomplished runner and family man. Grateful to have the opportunity to be his colleague. I know that when I run I will continue to see his grin and hear his banter to run faster. Fond memories will continue to live on. My thoughts are with Cheryl and his children during this difficult time.

To the Family. Our family is sorry for your loss. It is hard to go through this difficult time, but it's good to know that we keep in our heart all the good moments, love, and care that we share with our loved ones. Romans 8:38, 39 says that nothing …. not even death is be able to separate us from God's love.

To Cheryl and family. Ed was a special man and will always hold a place in my heart. He was a great mentor for me, and I learned much from him. He had a great sense of humor and really seemed to enjoy his work. His face always lit up when he talked about you and the kids.- you all were the greatest joy in his life. I will always appreciate Ed's blunt honesty - most people do not have that kind of courage. He will be missed many, including myself. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
