Edward Thomas Clapperton, 92, born in Portland, Oregon, passed away in peace on November 23, 2013 after a brief hospitalization. Ed was a much loved father, devoted husband, favorite uncle, ground-breaking scientist and decorated veteran. Ed received his Masters in Chemistry from the University of Portland after serving with the Army’s Eighth Air Force in Europe, where he earned a Distinguished Flying Cross. His work as a chemist and microscopist in the pulp and paper industry qualified for several patents. He was proceeded in death by Alvina, his wife of 50 years. He is survived by son Edward Clapperton and his wife Kayo, daughter Anne Pearson, her husband Dave and their sons Tyler and Andrew. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 30 at Russellville Park Retirement Community. Donations to St. Vincent de Paul.
