On Thursday, February 10, 2011, Edward Anthony Cotter passed on to his eternal reward. At his bedside, he was surrounded by his wife of 46 years Marie, daughters Teresa and Joy, son Edward, best friend Al Castaldo, sister Mary Ward, brother Thomas Cotter and sister-in-law Mary Cotter.
Edward whom most people knew as "Big Eddie" was born April 22, 1942 in the Bronx, New York. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and joined the U.S. Army Reserves after completion of basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He then joined the NYPD; and, after retiring from the Department, moved to Las Vegas where he became a world class dice dealer. Big Eddie loved the action and excitement of the casino business as well as establishing a great rapport with his customers. He performed his job flawlessly with passion and enthusiasm prior to his retirement from the Red Rock Hotel and Casino in 2010.
He is preceded in death by his brother Michael Cotter. Other living members of his family include siblings William and his wife Jackie Cotter of Hampton Bays, New York; Thomas and wife Mary Cotter of Ellicott City, Maryland; Mary Ward of Williston Park, New York; Barbara and her husband John Heber of Rehoboth, Delaware; and Noreen Sloan of Brooklyn, New York.
His viewing will take place at Palm Mortuary (Jones) funeral home Monday, February 14th and Tuesday, February 15th at the following times: 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. A celebration of his life will occur Wednesday, February 16th with 10 a.m. Mass at Saint Joseph, Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church immediately followed by a Christian burial.

Hi Cotter Family, this is Marc Roth, we were neighbors way back on Greenwood Avenue when Little Eddie and I were best friends and up until you moved to the Lakes where I eventually lost touch. The Last time I saw Big Ed was at Big Al and Eds and I didn't get a chance to see him again. RIP you're an unforgetable man. If anyone would like to contact me (347)829-4237 is my current number, I am still in Las Vegas.

To the entire Cotter family,
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. Big Eddy was a great guy and always had a great joke. I am glad that we were able to have some good times with our friends this past year.

Our prayers and thoughts are for Marie, Teresa, Joy and Eddie. Eddie was a funny guy, a "big" cousin, a nice person who was brought up in a wonderful family. So many great memories of the "cellar" parties, the dancing, singing, stories, the laughs, "da Bronx". May Eddie rest in peace and may God Bless all of you as you grieve the loss of your husband and father. Kate and Tom Armstrong
