Our beloved Husband, Brother, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather passed away peacefully June 13, 2012 at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family. His wife and the love of his life, Eleanor (Polyot) Daley was by his side. Born in Brewer, ME, December 6, 1926 to the late Edward and Dorothy Daley. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife and his 3 children, Joe (Tammy) of Wilmington, DE., Mike (Cathy) of Tarpon Springs, FL., and Kevin (Terry) of Haslett, MI. He was a hero to his 7 grandsons, Jeff, Patrick, Michael, Ryan, Tim, Matt, Chris, and his great granddaughter, Emma. He is survived by his loving Sister, Joyce (Daley) Clauson, who helped provide care and was by his side for the final month. He is also survived by an aunt, many nieces, nephews and cousins. At age 17, after graduating from John Bapst High School in Bangor, ME., Ray enlisted in the Navy serving honorably with the Seabees in Okinawa, Japan. Ray retired after 30 years with Goulds in 1995. Eleanor and Ray were married on June 6th, 1949. The love and devotion they shared for the past 63 years has truly been an inspiration to everyone who knew them. Ray loved the Spartans, boating, horseshoes, gardening, nascar and getting back to Maine whenever he could. He loved spending time visiting his children and cheering his grandsons on in their many sporting events. Ray had many friends from Maine to California. Once you met Ray, you remained his friend for life. To all, he was wise, compassionate and kind, and never spoke badly about anybody. Ray was an active member of Resurrection Parrish for 47 years as well as a member of Kiwanis and a volunteer with The Salvation Army. To all the doctors, nurses and staff at Mid-Michigan Physicians, the family wishes to extend a sincere thank you for all the kindness you extended to Ray and to Sparrow Hospice Healthcare for their excellent and loving care.
