Edward Michael McGuire, an international oilman, loving husband and father passed away Sunday, the 25th of August 2013, in Houston.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life to who he was married 66 years, Juanita M. McGuire. He is survived by his sons, Michael K. McGuire and Patrick S. McGuire; his daughter-in-law, Jana S. McGuire; granddaughter, Meghan K. McGuire; and nephews, David and Steve Knoblauch.

Ed was born in Kiowa, Kansas on the 16th of November 1925 to Joseph and Lucy McGuire. The family moved to Wichita, Kansas at the beginning of WWII. Ed finished high school in Wichita where he fell in love with Juanita prior to volunteering for Naval service. He earned his wings as a Naval aviator and when the war ended, Ed returned to Wichita to marry Juanita. Four years later he graduated from Tulsa University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Engineering jobs were hard to find after the war, but Ed was not discouraged. He accepted a job as a roughneck with Cities Service Oil Company and 20 years later he had risen to President of their Indonesian operations. He later managed the Philippine operations for Occidental Petroleum and later for Alcorn International, Inc.

Ed loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed travel, fly-fishing and piloting sail planes. He built his own sail plane from scratch, quite an accomplishment, but one that pales in comparison to what a wonderful husband and father he was.

Ed will be greatly missed by his many friends and especially his family.

The memorial service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 30th of August, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the Rev. Rick Myers, Associate Pastor at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.

In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Edward's memory may be directed to Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 531313, Henderson, NV, 89053.
