Edward F. Mottle, 84, of Homosassa, FL, passed away peacefully at Oak Hill Hospital on Aug. 21, 2014 with his wife Dolores and niece Carol at his bedside. He was born on July 27, 1930 in Mount Pleasant, PA to the late Edward and Marie (Beran) Mottle. Edward graduated from German Township High School in 1948. After serving in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from the California State Teachers College. Edward F. Mottle, 84, of Homosassa, FL, passed away peacefully at Oak Hill Hospital on Aug. 21, 2014 with his wife Dolores and niece Carol at his bedside. He was born on July 27, 1930 in Mount Pleasant, PA to the late Edward and Marie (Beran) Mottle. Edward graduated from German Township High School in 1948. After serving in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from the California State Teachers College. He subsequently completed a Master of Arts Degree from West Virginia University in 1961. Edward worked as a teacher, guidance counselor and assistant principal in the Uniontown Area School District from 1957 to 1967. He served as the Dean of Student Affairs at Penn State University, Fayette Campus, beginning in 1967 until his retirement in 1988. Edward and his wife moved to Homosassa in Dec. 1989 and became an active parishioner of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Homosassa, serving on the Parish Council, Finance Committee, and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He also served as Head Usher and was a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 15154. He is survived by his beloved wife Dolores. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on July 22nd. Ed is also survived by cousins Mary Beranek Filicky and Melva Shebeck; sister-in-law Katherine Sperry and nieces Carol, Mary, and Kathy Sperry. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Joseph and brother-in-law William Sperry. Friends will be received on Sun., Aug. 24th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Mon., Aug. 25, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. from St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Homosassa, with Fr. Ronald Marecki, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa at 11:15 with military honors being rendered by American Legion Post #155. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Ed's name to either St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church or the charity of your choice. www.wilderfuneral.com
