Dear Family and Friends of Ed King: Today is Memorial Day and I thought about my time in the Army now 50 years past. I thought about Ed King on this day and searched his name on the web, which brought me to this site. It saddens me that he has passed from this world, but I am happy that I had the opportunity to serve with Sgt Maj. King at Fort Hood, Texas, 2d Armored Division, HQ, G2, from 1965 to 66. Ed was one of the finest men I've ever known. The way he conducted himself has been an inspiration to me all these years. I also had the privilege of meeting Dot and Sonja is those long ago days. I wish you all my deepest condolences. I thank you for posting all those wonderful pictures and the video. I will never forget Eddie King. Bless you All. .

Mr. King was the previous owner of our home. We had the privilege to have him over a couple of times after our house purchase, and to listen to the story of his life with his dear wife in their last home together. We were so thankful to have met him, and to have learned so much about the home we had chosen. Mr. King was kind, generous and was such a character! We are very sorry to know that he passed, but we find comfort in that he is now reunited with the love of his life. Our most sincere condolences to Sonia and her family.

ED was so kind and thoughtful. He was a co-minister with his wife, Dot, in prison ministry, Baptist women in miniatry, host in the home. And Ed knew how to do so many fix-it things. So thankful to have known Ed and Dot. Heard a lot about their daughters and grandchildren whom they loved dearly.

Eddie touched everyone's life he came in contact with, he was a great leader in his military career as well as in his everyday life... from sharing many stories and laughs with my young marines... To being the first one to welcome new residents at Abbotswood... Always, always a smile and warm welcome with every visit.... I am truly honored to have known such a wonderful person and friend

Many fond memories of being with him in 449th Field Artillery Observation Battalion in the 50's. We had many wonderful visits with him at army reunions and Abbottswood Retirement Center. He was a great friend and we will certainly miss him.
