Obituary

Edwin McClellan Terrell, of Palm Harbor, died August 20, 2014 at Harbor Chase in Palm Harbor. He was born to the late Claude and Lillian Terrell, May 22, 1915, in Richland, Kansas. After graduating from Topeka High School he went to Washington, D.C. to find work. Ed met Betty Caswell at George Washington University where they were both students and they were married in 1942. They lived in numerous countries in South and Central America and the Caribbean, before relocating to Virginia and California, and eventually to Palm Harbor in 1991. Ed was preceded in death by his wife Betty, who died in March of 2014 after 71years...

Edwin McClellan Terrell, of Palm Harbor, died August 20, 2014 at Harbor Chase in Palm Harbor.





He was born to the late Claude and Lillian Terrell, May 22, 1915, in Richland, Kansas. After graduating from Topeka High School he went to Washington, D.C. to find work. Ed met Betty Caswell at George Washington University where they were both students and they were married in 1942. They lived in numerous countries in South and Central America and the Caribbean, before relocating to Virginia and California, and eventually to Palm Harbor in 1991.





Ed was preceded in death by his wife Betty, who died in March of 2014 after 71years of marriage, a daughter, Dr. Katherine Terrell Svejnar (Jan Svejnar) who died in 2009, his sister and a nephew. He is survived by two children, Edwin M. Terrell Jr. (Ann) of Ocean Pines, MD and Elizabeth Lynn Terrell Atherton (Peter Atherton) of Clearwater, FL., six grandchildren, six great-grand sons and a niece.





He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked for several U.S. Government Agencies, including many years in U.S. Embassies in seven different countries. He retired after 40 years of service during which he received numerous awards, including the Distinguished Service Medal.





Funeral arrangements are being made by Sylvan Abbey Memorial funeral home. Services will be held Tuesday, August 26 at 11:00 am at Sylvan Abbey.
