Obituary

Edwin "Ed" Zimmerman formerly of Des Plaines. The funeral service for Edwin "Ed" Zimmerman, 90, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (Northwest Highway/Route 14 at Rand Road), Des Plaines. The Rev. Meritt Berg will officiate. Interment is private. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the funeral home. Born Nov. 3, 1919, in Des Plaines, he died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Good Shepherd Hospital. Mr. Zimmerman was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a machinist in the tool and die industry for 40 years. He was a part time farmer in Island Lake, Ill., and loved to fish. Ed was the son of the late Ralph O. and the late Lilly Zimmerman; brother of Kenneth (Jean) Zimmerman; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
