Egon Ronald Wright, Sr., was born to Ernest and Mertel in the small community of Newton, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, W.I. on May 30, 1933. After school he spent time supervising operations on his father's farm at Phoenix Park in Santa Cruz. Soon after, he ventured out and began his working career as a salesman. He started working at R.C. James & Sons store in Santa Cruz. He also worked with Singer Sewing Machine Co., Central Motors Co. and then as an entrepreneur opened Wright's Auto Sales & Supplies in May Pen. While working at Singer he met and married Dorothy Millicent. The union produced two sons, Egon Jr. and Howard , in addition to Keith, from a previous relationship.

In 1979 he and his family migrated to the United States where Florida became thier new home. He did a stint in trucking and import / export with Jamaica in spite of signs of failing health. He was not only a good family man but also a good son, brother, husband and father. His sons can attest to the fact that he was a good father and often overprotective. He taught them many practical skills of life, especially with motor vehicles. He had many friends and maintained life-long relationships with many of them.

He always had a love of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church even before becoming a member. Whenever asked about his denomination he would proudly say he was Seventh-Day Adventist. He became a baptized member on April 25, 2009. His passion was the new church building and was always inquiring about any progress being made. His health continued to decline which led to his hospitalization on March 31, 2014. He was surrounded by family when he passed on August 18, 2014.

He is survived by his wife Millicent; sons Keith, Egon Jr., Howard, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, six brothers, four sisters and a host of loved ones.

A "Celebration of Life" Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 24th at 11:00am at First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 14046 Okeechobee Blvd., Loxahatchee Groves, FL 33470.

" If we but had the eyes to see
God's face in every cloud,
If we but had the ears to hear
His voice above the crowd
If we could feel His gentle touch
In every springtime breeze
And find a haven in His arms
'Neath sheltering, leafy trees...
If we could just lift up our hearts
Like flowers to the sun
And trust His loving promise
And pray, "Thy will be done,"
We'd find the peace we're seeking,
The kind no man can give,
The peace that comes from knowing
He died so we might live!"
