Elayne June Hunt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on October 11, 2016, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 75 years.
Elayne June Hunt was born on June 7, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of Eldredge W. and Evelyn C. (Erickson) Strom.
Elayne attended Cloonley Elementary School then she went to Amundsen High School, after an English teacher told her that the paper she worked so hard to complete wasn't her work, she dropped out of school and got married. She moved from Chicago to Arlington Heights and then moved to Rolling Meadows. The result of that marriage was her three children, Janet, Russell and Sandra. Each was nurtured as individuals and was each equally loved. In the early 70's the family moved to Phoenix Arizona. After divorcing her first husband, and as a single mother of three, she swore that she would never get married again. Finding work in manufacturing at Shure Electronics she soon found herself laid off and without a job. After the death of her father, she received a call from Honeywell where she started in manufacturing and worked her way up to a Production Control Analyst. Knowing she needed to continue her education Elayne passed her GED and went on and took some courses at Glendale Community College. Unable to except mom being alone, Russell and Sandra were determined to find a husband for her. Going door to door, they rummaged through the Mobile Home Park looking for someone special. With no success to be found, a mutual friend of Richard and Elayne's set them up on a date, and the rest is history. They were married after a short courtship on November 18, 1978. With the closing of the Honeywell plant, Elayne moved on to work a Unidynamics, Litton, Pacific Scientific and Ryobi.
Richard loving the game of golf, tried time and time again to get Elayne interesting in the sport. Her response to him was "why would I want to chase some stupid white ball all over the place." It took him five years to finally convince her to give it a go, and as soon as she took to the sport she needed to master it. Before he knew it, she was playing better than he was. With her analytical mind she loved analyzing each stroke. After her retirement from Ryobi, Elayne announced that she was going to go back to college, when Richard asked what she was going to take she simply replied, "Golf".
Elayne spend 31 years in Arizona attending All Saints Lutheran Church when the Lord summoned her to Oklahoma. Desiring to know the word of the Lord, both Richard and Elayne moved to Oklahoma City with their daughter Janet. Editing Roy Richmond's lessons was not enough; she wanted to know our heavenly Father more intimately. Studying every day, she thirst to know more continued to grow and she was able for a short time to teach adult bible study. Everywhere she went she was eager to teach other the word and inspire others to look into it themselves. Even up to the day of her passing, Elayne would tell people how special they were and that the Lord loved them. For someone that lived a short life in the biblical sense, she touched so many people that will miss her terribly.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of the home; two daughters, Janet Krutul of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Sandra Thomas of Noble, Oklahoma; one son, Russell Bergstrom of Illinois; one brother, Bill Strom; three sisters, Joyce Jagla, Jean Gable, and Lee Tuohey; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
