Elbert Mitchell Neese, 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 11, 2017. A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Lizella Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Minton and the Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church. Donations may be made to Pruitt Hospice, 4796 Hwy 42 N, Forsyth GA 31029 or Lizella Baptist Church, 2950 S. Lizella Road, Lizella GA 31052 or donor's favorite charity that ministers in love to those less fortunate. A plaque hung over Dad's bed that read, "Love lives in this house, Always has, Always will." His favorite scripture in the Bible was 1st Corinthians 13 – the "Love Chapter". He paid tribute to his Mom who gave their family so much love and all his life he tried to share that love with everyone that he met.
He was born in Troup County, Georgia to Park and Mae Dell Neese. He was the sixth of nine kids. He is preceded in death by his parents and other siblings. His oldest son Ronald M. Neese (Judy Collins Neese) of Jasper, GA passed away in October 2015.
He married his long-time sweetheart Betty Jean Jackson of Hogansville, GA in August 1944 and they were married for 66 years until her death in January 2010. Mr. Neese served in the U.S. Army in 1945 until 1947 helping the armed forces during the cleanup of Germany at the end of World War II. He was a true patriot and loyal American citizen.
He worked for Colonial Stores for 37 ½ years before his retirement. He was dedicated, faithful, loyal and admired so very much that he was sent all over the Southeast starting up new stores. He was the Manager in Hapeville, GA when Truett Cathay opened up his first restaurant The Dwarf House. Mr. Neese used to say that Chic-fil-A was only successful because they bought the best chicken from him.
On his 90th Birthday in March our family asked as many people as could to send him a birthday card or an email or facebook message which we printed out and gave to him. He was so thrilled to 78 birthday cards, 35 emails and 50 plus messages. He pinned each one to his dining room wall. What most of the senders did not know was that on each message he wrote a personal blessing in response for them about how they were connected to him through our family.
He is survived by his son, Stanley E. Neese (Brenda Fuller Neese) of Fayetteville, GA, three grand doggie girls and several nieces and nephews scattered from West Virginia to Louisiana.

Stan and Brenda, so sorry for your loss. I feel sure that my daddy knew him since he also retired from Colonial Stores. Your dad was a fine Christian gentleman.
