Obituary

Elbert A. Spann entered into eternal peace on April 19, 2014, surrounded by his beloved family. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday April 22, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Colorado City. Visitation with the Family will be held Tuesday at the Church Gym from 1:30 PM until the time of Service. Interment will be on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM in Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, TX. Military Honors will be rendered at the cemetery. Rev. Jerry Shields will officiate and Kiker-Seale Funeral Home will be directing. Elbert A. Spann entered into eternal peace on April 19, 2014, surrounded by his beloved family. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday April 22, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Colorado City. Elbert was born on January 20, 1928 to William and Jewel Spann in Westbrook, Texas. He attended school through the eleventh grade and joined the United States Army where he served 1946-1948 and 1951-1954. He was the proud recipient of many coveted awards including Purple Heart, National Defense Service Ribbon, Korean Service Medal (three bronze service stars), UN Service Star, and Combat Medic Badge.
He married Leora Crawford in 1953 and the two were happily married for 61 years.
Elbert was active in First Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. After retiring from Dowell Oil Company, Elbert enjoyed traveling and serving the Lord with Campers on Mission. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend and will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife Leora Spann; his two children, Rick Spann and wife Rhonda, and Connie Browning; four grandchildren Kristen, Brian, Amanda, and Jenni; and brother Larry Joe and Cathy. He is preceded by his father William, mother Jewel, two brothers Mardell and Billy, and two sisters Dorothy and Joyce.
