Eleanor Fabian- Long died on November 25, 2016 at the age of 94. She was born on October 31, 1922 in Dysart, Iowa to John Arthur (Art) and Gertrude A Ellingson. Eleanor attended the University of Iowa then married John Robert Fabian who was a World War II Pilot. In 1994 Eleanor married Dr. Charles O. Long, also a World War II pilot; they enjoyed traveling during their 22 years together to different countries as well as between their homes in East Lansing and Ocala, Florida. Eleanor decided she had unfinished business, so she enrolled at MSU and was very proud to receive her college degree in Sociology at the age of 74. Eleanor loved her cottage at Higgins Lake and especially enjoyed planning family gatherings there for the holidays; she was a long time member of the Peoples Church and was owner/broker of Fabian Realty for over 60 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and first husband, John Robert Fabian. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles O. Long, son, John Robert Fabian Jr. and daughter-in-law, Bernadette Fabian (Eva); step-daughters, VK McCarthy, Lisa Nolan, Nan Hunt, Lori Nelson; grandchildren, John (Rob) Robert Fabian III and Amy Rachelle Mertke; great grandchildren, Felicia Krakowiak, Matthew Krakowiak III, John D. Mertke, Tyler Fabian and Marisa Fabian; sister, Patricia Finch; sisters-in-law, Sue Fabian and Margret (Peg) Metzger; favorite niece, Lori Finch; nephew, Arthur Walker, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 11:00 AM, December 3, 2016 at the Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI with Rev. Drew Filkins officiating. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service.
