Alex Meyer Sr. was born June 23,1924 to Fred and Albina "Holitek" Meyer in Taylor, Texas and passed away on March 28,2015 in Austin, Texas.

Alex graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Taylor, Texas and served in the United States Army during WWII. After he was discharged from the Army he returned to Taylor and married Marjorie Lee Robinson on June 30, 1949 and began a career as a printer. He worked at several newspapers including the Texas City Sun but when the family moved to Austin in 1965 he began working for the Austin American Statesman and retired in 1989.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, four children. Sons Hal and wife Betty, Buddy , Bob and wife Susan and Daughter Christine and husband Kevin . He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Dustin and wife Sophia, Stephanie and husband Cole, Austin, Bobby , Abigail, Jacob and Chelsea and 3 great-grandchildren Mattie, Max and Beckham. To his children he was always Daddy, no matter how old we got. He loved reading any newspaper, westerns movies , Bob Wills and Glenn Miller , Pearl Light and chocolate of any kind. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who lives he touched.

A visitation will be Tuesday March 31, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor , Texas with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Wednesday April 1, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor , Texas with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the St. Mary's Cemetery Fund.

Alex Meyer, Sr. was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Alex will be remembered as a very exceptional person
