Elisabeth Hirsch, PhD, nee Schiff, wife of the late Julius E. Hirsch died on February 24, 2014 in White Plains, NY at the age of 95.
Born in Hungary on June 16, 1918, Dr. Hirsch immigrated to the USA via England after WW II. While living in London she was a student of Anna Freud where she began her life-long interest in early childhood education and child development. She earned higher degrees at the New School for Social Research and New York University. Her career in New York included teaching pre-school at The
Little Red Schoolhouse, followed by an appointment as professor of Early Childhood Education at the City College of New York.
She retired from CCNY at the age of 70 but continued teaching as Professor Emeritus till she was 80.
Dr. Hirsch's is best known as the author of The Block Book. She is survived by two daughters – Susan and Naomi – and a sister Martha Talmi living in Israel.

The children of The Clear View School are boys and girls ages 3 to 21 who have been unable to progress in traditional educational settings and would benefit from a small, structured and therapeutically supportive environment.
The funeral service was held 1PM Thursday February 27 at our chapel, Gutterman and Muiscant Jewish Funeral Directors, Hackensack, NJ.
Interment will followed at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ.
