Elise Nelson Quigley Chrisco, "Cissie"
Beloved mother, grandmother, neighbor, army wife, and friend died Sunday, March 22nd in her McLean, Va. home from breast cancer, she was 84. The Louisville, Kentucky native moved frequently as a military wife, but spent the last 52 years in Franklin Park, a neighborhood she dearly loved. She taught high school English, dabbled in real estate, and worked at a pre-school but her biggest passion was her almost 40 years of service as an Arlington Lady,a volunteer organization at Arlington National Cemetery, that makes sure no solider is ever buried alone. For her dedicated service the United States Army awarded her the "Commander's Award for Public Service", an "Outstanding Civilian Service Medal" and the Washington Army Chapter "Helping Hand Award".
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Chrisco Andrews, son-in-law Michael Andrews and grandson Mac Andrews of Washington, D.C. A celebration of her life, funeral service and burial will at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Visit online guestbook at murphyfuneralhomes.com.

I did not get the chance to know Ms. Cissie that well. I used to live in Washington DC and sat next to her in the airport one day. I was so nervous that I would get bumped from the flight because my ticket was a standby pass. Ms. Cissie talked to me and even offered to ask the woman if I could be her +1 as a companion. As we waited for the flight, she told me about her life and asked me about mine. I am not sure I have ever had such an easy conversation with someone before. She gave me her phone number so we could make plans to have lunch together. We tried a few times to connect but our schedules were not lining up. I never got to see her again. Today I was at the same airport and felt an overwhelming urge to find her again. I was deeply saddened to see this obituary come up. I wish that I could have seen her again if just to say that she had a wonderful heart, overflowing with kindness and grace. It only took an hour for her to find a permanent place in my memories. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends. In my memory, she will always be one of my role models.

I am so sorry for your loss. As Spring comes it reminds us of the resurrection and new life. She still lives and will be with you once again. She is now with God and visiting with relatives that have since passed to the other side. Find peace in knowing she is happy and out of pain.
