Elizabeth Jeanne Bennett, 74, of Jacksonville passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Born in Jacksonville, Florida she was a lifelong resident of the "Gilmore" community. Jeanne was a member of the Gilmore M.E. Church founded by her grandfather, Archibald Gilmore, Sr. (now, Ft. Caroline United Methodist Church), where she married James "Jimmy" Arthur Bennett, Sr. the love of her life, on May 12, 1962 by Rev. Bruce Galloway.
She graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1961 and immediately started her banking and repossession career with American Bank in Arlington. Jeanne was the President, Owner and CEO of ATCO/Bennett Recoveries and President and Board member of several other organizations in the repossession business.
As a member of FCUMC, Jeanne was involved in leadership and participated in leadership training at the Methodist retreat in Lake Asbury, served on the Trustees, and started, and was a member of, the Divas and the United Methodist Women. Jeanne helped organize the annual fall festival and served as the Wednesday night cook for many years. She took her walk to Emmaus on FCE Walk #72 at the camp at Lake Asbury where she met new friends and deepened her relationship with Jesus. Jeanne was a great asset to Fort Caroline United Methodist Church.
Jeanne was also member of the Red Hat Society, and because of her love for children, she had been a voice in the Florida Guardian Ad Litem Program. Jeanne had a huge heart and lived life to the fullest (with her Big Gulp diet sodas and snickers), celebrating Christmas and Easter over the years at her house with family and friends, while enjoying scalloping in Steinhatchee, FL, lobstering in the Keys , catfishing in Santee, SC, scuba diving and traveling with family and friends.
Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, John E. Sikes Sr. and Anna Lenorah Gilmore Sikes; husband Jimmy, Sr., whom she adored; children Jody and Joy, Siblings John E. Sikes Jr. (Genny), Mina Reid, Jackie Lochridge (Bert), and brother-in-law, Edwin Malin. She is survived by her sons Jimbo (Connie) and John (Tammy), and siblings Gloria Malin, Bob Sikes (Janet), and Pat Bodway (Rodney); Grandchildren John Bennett, Jr., Andy Bennett, Jennifer and Brandi, 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

It was very sad to find the obituary. Jeanne was an amazing person. She did serious work but always smiled and was happy. It was years ago that I had the pleasure to be an associate that used Atco Recovery. I was young in the business and she took me under her wing. I'll never forget the special lady she was. My sincere condolences to her family.

Jeanne's smile tells you everything about her. Always a good friend, always helping, always the optimist! She was a Red Hatter with a neon "R". She will truly be missed. My sincere condolences to the family she so treasured.

When Jeanne was running ATCO/Bennett Recoveries I bought several vehicles through her. Got to know Jeanne pretty well she indeed was a sport, one of a kind. Quite an accomplished woman. I always thought well of her. Lost contact with her over the years. Sorry to hear of her passing.
Our sincere condolences to the family.

Jeanne was such an inspiration for so many people. She was my hero in so many ways. She never held a person's short comings against them.I love Jeanne for who she was.She was a strong courageous woman that wasn't afraid to stand up for what she thought was right. You were "The Queen" of our industry, and in life in general. You are irreplaceable, and will be missed terrible by all who have had the honor of meeting you. You had my back when few believed in me. Thank you Queen Jeanne!! Save a seat up there for me. My works not done here yet, but I'll be up there in the blink of an eye. God has already blessed you, and all those that you have touched.

Jeannie was a good friend and my first client when the REPO industry wanted to remove company names from side of trucks in favor or a unique ID #. I followed up and went to Tallahassee to get the same rule statewide. I will miss the occasional visits I made to the business just to catch up and bs.

Jeanne and I go back many years, both as business associates and, more importantly, as friends. She was a woman of great courage and had no fear to always stand up for what she believed. She had my back more than once. I will always remember her for her huge heart, her honesty, and her unconditional friendship with both me and my wife. She is one of the few people I can say that passed through my life experience and made a difference. Both myself and my wife will miss her dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones.
