Elizabeth (Beth) Poynton Aitkens, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25th, 2013. "Beth" was predeceased by her husband John, May 10th, 2005. Beth will be deeply missed by her daughter Susan (Nick) van Hees, her three granddaughters: Karin (Daniel) Turner and their children Joshua and Georgia; Stephanie (Jeffrey) Penny and their children Nicholas and Kaitlynn; Pamela (Brent) Bachmann and their son Tyler; her sister Beverly (Graham) Davis and their family. Beth was a gracious and determined lady who always took up a challenge. She was the consummate Naval Officer's wife always adjusting to wherever John's postings took then. Upon John's retirement in 1967, Beth and he returned to Kelowna, their place of birth. Beth was a professional model for many years in Vancouver, B.C., Curator of the Madame Tussuad Wax Museum, Victoria, B.C., an Early Childhood Educator with Bo-Peep Kindergarten on Hobson Road, Kelowna, a volunteer for the Lady of the Lake Pageant as well as a volunteer for the Kelowna Red Cross. She loved accompanying her husband and friends fly fishing and her love of floral arranging would always find a bouquet of some sort on the campsite picnic table. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to all the Staff of Hawthorn Park and in particular, Orchard Manor where Mom has resided for the past few years. Your caring and compassion for Mom is forever appreciated. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 2710 East Kelowna Road on Thursday, April 4th, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Albert McLane officiating. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.mem.com and searching her name under stories. "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure" – unknown.

Arrangements entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna, BC ph:250-762-2299.
