Elizabeth (Betty) Perkins Alliaume, formerly of Summit, NJ and East Harwich, MA passed away on April 4, 2010 at Liberty Commons, in Chatham, MA, after a long illness. Mrs. Alliaume was born September 12, 1924, the daughter of Katherine and Roderick L. Perkins, and wife of the late Curtis B. Alliaume. Betty grew up in South Orange, NJ. She graduated from Columbia High School, and was accepted into Wellesley College, but decided instead to work in her father's law firm. Betty was also employed at a dance studio. Elizabeth (Betty) Perkins Alliaume, formerly of Summit, NJ and East Harwich, MA passed away on April 4, 2010 at Liberty Commons, in Chatham, MA, after a long illness.
Mrs. Alliaume was born September 12, 1924, the daughter of Katherine and Roderick L. Perkins, and wife of the late Curtis B. Alliaume. Betty grew up in South Orange, NJ. She graduated from Columbia High School, and was accepted into Wellesley College, but decided instead to work in her father's law firm. Betty was also employed at a dance studio.

On February 27, 1960, she was married to Curtis B. Alliaume of Utica, NY, a Cornell graduate, and WW II veteran. Betty and Curt moved to Summit in 1964. Betty traveled extensively throughout North America with Curt, who worked as a top salesman for IBM for 33 years.

Betty was a housewife, but wore many hats. She was actively involved with the Jr. League of Summit, and also at The Central Presbyterian Church in Summit. She enjoyed golfing at Essex County Country club in West Orange, where she won several championships. Later she was a member of Crestview, a private swim club, where she enjoyed cheering on her children during swim meets. Betty also volunteered at Overlook Hospital, in Summit. She also loved the local deli, and visiting her father who lived at the Jersey Shore.

In 1987, Betty and Curt decided to retire to Cape Cod, their favorite vacation spot, and built a house in East Harwich. She remained active in golf, knitting and needlepoint, playing bridge, the Garden Club of Harwich, and was a dedicated member and volunteer of the First Congregational Church of Chatham. Betty loved going to her favorite beach, and found great joy being with her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her brother, Charles S. Perkins of Lowville, NY, a daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) Norgeot of South Dennis, MA, a son, Curtis B. Alliaume Jr., and his wife Karen of Naperville, IL, two grandson's, John B. Norgeot and Daniel C. Alliaume and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on April 24, 2010 at 10 AM at the First Congregational Church in Chatham, 650 Main St., Chatham, MA 02633. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty's name may be made to the First Congregational Church of Chatham''s Memorial Fund.

Burial will be private.
