Betty, as she liked to be called passed away peacefully on July 1st at the age of ninety, less than a month from turning ninety-one.

Betty was a native New Yorker, one of seven children born to Florence and William Ehm July 29, 1923 in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Flatbush. She leaves behind three siblings, Sisters Gloria Axline and Virginia Charelli and Brother William Ehm Jr.

Betty married John Haflich in 1944 during World War II while John was serving in the US Coast Guard. John passed away in 2004 with Betty by his side.

Betty and John raised two wonderful sons, John and Bill. John and wife Teresa have two children Cindy Raber and Michael Haflich. Cindy and husband Eddie have two children, Dillon and Tiffany. Michael and wife Ann Marie have two daughters, Alyssa and Madison. Bill and wife Kathy have two children Suzanne Brown and Thomas Haflich. Suzanne and husband Andrew have one child William. Betty adored her family and was thrilled to be the grandmother to four and great-grandmother to five; her five great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

After Betty's retirement from Ridgewood Savings Bank where she worked in the Personnel Department for 25 years she and John moved to Spring Valley, CA in 1990. They purchased their first home there which brought them much happiness and was a great source of pride.

Betty was active and loved socializing with her friends over coffee daily at her local coffee shop.

After suffering a stroke in 2012 Betty moved to Oakdale Heights Assisted Living in La Mesa California where she made friends with everyone including staff and residents alike.

The family would like to thank the staff of Oakdale for taking such good care of Betty over the past two plus years and treating her like they would their own grandmother. They would also like to thank the Nurses and Staff of Alvarado Medical Center for the tenderness and compassion shown to Betty and her family during her final days.

Betty will be interred with the remains of John at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on August 4th. There will be a memorial held at 2PM on Monday August 4th at Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary, 7387 Broadway, Lemon Grove, CA 91945.
