Eloise Ridgeway, 106, passed from this life to join her Lord, and a heavenly band of family and friends November 23, 2016 at Lakewood Manor Retirement Home in Richmond, VA. Still "young at heart," Eloise had just celebrated her birthday earlier in the month with a group of children in the family. Born in Clarendon County, SC, she had resided in Richmond since 1924. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Willie M. Ridgeway and Ella Ridgeway Bradham and her siblings: Eunice Ridgeway, Carlos Ridgeway (Edna), Macye Ridgeway Baggette (Benjamin), Mack Ridgeway (Gladys), Elma Bradham Booth (Claude), and Woodrow Bradham (Rosalee). Eloise worked in supervision and in the lab at DuPont Chemical Company of Richmond for over 40 years. She was a lifelong member of Patterson Avenue Baptist Church (formerly Park View Baptist Church), where she loved to worship and served as Deacon, greeter, kitchen helper, and Sunday School teacher of 6-year-olds for 40 years. She took pride in her membership in Church Women United where she was honored as a Valiant Woman. Next to her love of church and family, Eloise loved to travel and continued to drive her car until she was 99 ½. Eloise was the beloved "Matriarchal Aunt" of a multitude of nieces and nephews from Virginia to South Carolina. Those nieces who had the opportunity to share life with her while growing up are Judy Ridgeway Morris (Dick), Paula Ridgeway China (Charles), and Faye Booth Jones (James). Her gentle, always positive, and fun-loving ways endeared her to many. The family wishes to thank the staff and especially the wonderful Health Care nurses and assistants of Lakewood as well as Medi-Hospice for their care. A celebration of Eloise's life will take place at the Lakewood Retirement Center on Lauderdale Drive, Saturday, Dec 3 at 2:15pm. Interment will be private for family. In lieu of flowers, and in consideration of Eloise's love of children, it is suggested that donations be made to the Camp Alkulana Fund of the Richmond Baptist Association, which benefits inner-city children (Richmond Baptist Association, 3111 Moss Side Avenue, Richmond VA 23222).

God bless her Sweet, Beautiful soul. We will truly miss her! She always said she didn't know God's purpose for her living so long. Those of us who knew and loved her know that she fulfilled that purpose Beautifully. She was here to teach us all the true meaning of Kindness and Love.
How Blessed we were to have her in our lives. We Love you Eloise.
