Elpeneke "Picky" Bobotas, 93, of Manchester passed away peacefully Thursday evening, February 20, 2014 at Hanover Hill Healthcare Center. Born in Manchester on July 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Mplegmenos) Tsipopoulos. Picky attended Maynard School and graduated from Central High School. After high school she worked various jobs at J.F. McElwain Shoe, BeeBee Shoe and Pandora Industries. She and her husband, Peter were co-owners of Merrimack Fruit in Manchester with her brother "Muscles" Tsipopoulos. Elpeneke "Picky" Bobotas, 93, of Manchester passed away peacefully Thursday evening, February 20, 2014 at Hanover Hill Healthcare Center.

Born in Manchester on July 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Mplegmenos) Tsipopoulos. Picky attended Maynard School and graduated from Central High School. After high school she worked various jobs at J.F. McElwain Shoe, BeeBee Shoe and Pandora Industries. She and her husband, Peter were co-owners of Merrimack Fruit in Manchester with her brother "Muscles" Tsipopoulos. It was a very popular corner in town where people could meet and have great homemade food. After a brief "retirement", Picky and Peter bought Maple Heights Market in Manchester. They worked tirelessly to build a great business, catering to the needs of the neighborhood folks.

Picky was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a past member of the NOA Auxiliary and the Anagennesis Ladies Society. She was pre deceased by her beloved husband, Peter Bobotas, who died on December 25, 1999 and her brother Emanuel "Muscles" Tsipopoulos.

Members of her loving family include one daughter, Ann Bobotas Nye and her husband Winston Nye of Collegeville, PA as well as many nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Calling hourswere from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, Feb. 24th in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St. A Trisagion service was held at 6 PM. Her funeral ceremony was held at 10 AM on Tuesday, Feb. 25th in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover St. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
