Elsie Merrill Litton, 82, of Cross Lanes, went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2018. Elsie attended Community Chapel Church in Cross Lanes. She loved the outdoors and spent a great deal of time gardening, canning vegetables and admiring her flowers. Elsie had a passion for camping at Beech Fork with many of her and Ray's friends and family, especially Stella Litton which was like a sister to her. Her kids and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Elsie was born on January 22, 1935 and grew up in the Wallback area of Clay County. Later in life as her kids were growing up, Elsie could be found spending countless days at the baseball and softball fields in Cross Lanes and Nitro.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Otis "Ray" Litton; Father Porter Barnes; Mother Ethel Barnes; Sisters Burndenia "Burnie" Spiegelberg and Pearl Barnes; Brother Ronald Barnes and Grandson Christopher Michael Meadows.
Elsie is survived by her Sister Chloe Mays of Indiana; Brother Arling Barnes of Midway; Brother Cecil Barnes of Cross Lanes.
Elsie is also survived by her children/grandchildren: Daughters Brenda Lilly (Steve) of Scott Depot and Dale Litton of Cross Lanes; and Sons Mike Litton (Jill) of Scott Depot, Randy Litton (Kim) of Nitro and Clarence Litton (Tammy) of Winfield; Grandchildren: Justin Litton, Matt Litton, Michael James, Amy Meadows, Josh Meadows, Kendal Litton, Madison Litton, Haley Litton, Mallory Litton; Great Grandchildren: Leaona Meadows, Elijah Meadows, Brooklyn James and Gracie James.
A special thank you goes out to Lois Barnes and Judy McCutcheon for their assistance and display of true love during these times. The family also appreciates David Reveal and Patty Moss for standing by us and providing strong support.
A sincere thanks also goes out to Kim and Mary representing the Hospice Team that helped with Mom over the last weeks. In lieu of flowers, please consider helping the Kanawha Hospice organization.
