Elsie C.(Meyer) Allen went to her heavenly home March 18, 2011 at Tucson, Arizona. Elsie was born at San Pierre. Indiana, to John and Emma Meyer,on January 30. 1914. She married George Allen, from Tucson, December 2, 1972 in Muncie, Indiana and came to live in Tucson. She is survived by one sister, Leona Miller, and a brother-in-law, Rev. Earl Gardner, several nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 brothers, Roy, Lloyd and Alfred, who died at 11 days old; a sister, Pearl Gardner and several extended family members.

Elsie was a member of Mountain View Church of the Nazarene. She loved being able to serve the Lord in what ever way she could. She loved reading and studying the Bible. She had several special talents. One was playing the piano. She also crocheted and did other needle work. She was an excellent cook but baking was a specialty. Her family and extended family praised her for her cooking and baking. Her homemade yeast coffee cakes were the best. She leaves her family with a lot of cherished memories.

She worked at various employments during her earlier years. Among them was being a cook for Senator Beckman of Illinois. She also worked at Excel Manufacturing Company in Muncie, Indiana making lamps.

Elsie's grandparent's, Daniel and Charlotte Meyer came from Germany and settled on a 80 acre farm at San Pierre, Indiana. It was a log cabin and as the family grew the upstairs was added. They had 8 children born in this house. One was John Meyer, Elsie's father. When her father and mother married they bought the farm from her grandparents. Daniel and Charlotte moved to town. John Meyer had 6 children, one being Elsie. born in this same house. When Roy, the oldest married, he and his wife, Agnes, lived there too. They had 2 daughters born in the same house. Elsie said "Our home was humble but we were happy" In 1941, the family left the farm and moved to Kankakee, Illinois and later moved to Muncie, Indiana.

The family would like to thank Della and her staff at Lovecare, for the love and care they gave Elsie the past 9 years. May God richly bless each one who had some part in her care.
