Elsie C. Taggart, age 87, of Duluth, MN died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Aftenro Home. Elsie Carrie was born July 10, 1924 in West Duluth the daughter of Carsten and Lavina (Hanson) Liend. She attended school in Barnum and then began work as a housekeeper. She was joined in marriage to John Palmer in 1942. Elsie continued working and moved to Duluth, MN where she was joined in marriage to Lloyd E. Taggart in 1946. Elsie and Lloyd lived in Duluth where they enjoyed feeding all the animals out their back door. Elsie's hobbies included embroidering, collecting rooster and hen ceramics and reading cooking books. Elsie Carrie was born July 10, 1924 in West Duluth the daughter of Carsten and Lavina (Hanson) Liend. She attended school in Barnum and then began work as a housekeeper. She was joined in marriage to John Palmer in 1942. Elsie continued working and moved to Duluth, MN where she was joined in marriage to Lloyd E. Taggart in 1946. Elsie and Lloyd lived in Duluth where they enjoyed feeding all the animals out their back door. Elsie's hobbies included embroidering, collecting rooster and hen ceramics and reading cooking books. Hearing about or seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren would always bring her joy.
Elsie is survived by her son, John (Dorothy) Palmer of Barnum, MN; daughter, Lavina Doberstein of Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren, Dwayne Palmer of Barnum, Carmen (Mike) Keyport of Grand Portage, MN; Brian Doberstein of Milwaukee, WI; eight great grandchildren, Ashley, A.J., Nathan, Aaron, Ryan, Mia, Christopher and Nichole; one great great granddaughter, Jaycee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd and one brother, Rocky Liend.
A funeral service celebrating Elsie's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 23, at Jarvi-Dowd Funeral Home in Duluth. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Duluth.
