Funeral services for Emily E. Brashaw, age 66 of Ogdensburg will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday Dec 7, 2016 at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Salvation Army Chaplin Lieutenant Stacy McNeil officiating. Burial will follow the service at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hogansburg with full military honors.

Calling hours will be held also on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service. Mrs. Brashaw passed away at her home unexpectedly on Wednesday Nov 30, 2016.

Surviving are her children Terrill Sutton of Oxford NY and Craig (Diane) Baker of Appling GA; step-children James Brashaw of Ogdensburg, Sean (Carla) Brashaw of Theresa, Michelle Brashaw of Ogdensburg and Karen (Chris) Bidwell of Ogdensburg; sisters Terrill (Alfred "Happy") O'Brien of Annandale VA, Sue Ann (George) Hutchcroft of Brockville Ontario, Jeffra Montroy of Ogdensburg, Robin (Robert) Miller of Waddington and Candace Hooper of Ogdensburg; a brother Gregory (Annette) Hooper of Creedmoor NC; three grandchildren Kyle Sutton, Wesley Baker, Tyler Sutton; step-grandchildren Jordan Brashaw, Dillion Binion, Cody & Zach Bidwell, Holden & Dustin Brashaw and Desiree Lopez along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Her parents Alfred & Beatrice Hooper and three siblings Sherrill Hooper in 1947, Edward Hooper in 1990 and Joyce Zezulak in 2007.

Emily was born on December 17, 1949 in Bombay NY the daughter of Alfred & Beatrice (Cook) Hooper. She attended local schools and graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1968. She was employed at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center and Milbrook Bread prior to entering the service. In 1981 she entered the US Navy and worked as a firefighter until 2001 when she retired and received her honorable discharge. She later became employed at the Academy at Ivy Ridge in 2002 as the Director of Support Operations and again retired in June of 2005. Previous marriages ended and on December 20, 1997, she married Robert G. Brashaw. He later predeceased her in 2008.

She was a charter member of the National American Indian Museum in Washington DC and a charter member of the Women in Military Service in Arlington VA. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, sewing, traveling, crocheting spending time with family and especially making Christmas cookies with her nieces & nephews.
