Mr. Eric "E.J." Acosta, 78, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at his residence. There will be no public service.
Eric J. Acosta was born in Bogalusa, La., to Eric Piere Acosta and Irene Blanchard Acosta. He retired from the United States Air Force and also retired from Digital Equipment Computer Service.
Mr. Acosta was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alice and Ruby. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Dagmar C. Acosta; daughters Deborah Ann Calcutta and Donna Jean Acosta, both of Ocean Springs, Miss.; sons Michael Eric Acosta of Ocean Springs and Mark Steven Acosta of Athens; stepdaughter Brenda Hessenflow of Chicago, Ill.; stepson Bruce Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren Tiffany Dye, Cherish Townsend, Brandi Thompson, Erik Acosta, Jessika Acosta; stepgrandchildren Helena Hessenflow, Lydia Hessenflow, Kate Smith, and Ryan Smith; great-grandchildren Triston, Morgan, and Avery; and sister Myrtis Statham of Bogalusa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National MS Society.
